It was a case of Amore at first sight when, as tourists we stopped opposite the driveway transfixed by the sight of the cottage and large Gothic printed FOR SALE sign. An hour later we were being shown the property by an agent who certainly did'nt have to sell us.
Sitting on the stone setting with the rustle of trees, the sound of birds reverberating through the Blue Mountains bush and glimpes of Nellie's Glen Cliff opposite, we knew this would be our new sanctuary.
Now, years on, we have decided to share Amore with those looking for that perfect mountain holiday with accommodation that provides ultimate luxury whilst still retaining the warmth, charm and ambience of the mountains.
The Cottage
Built from Western Australian Sandstone - sawn on site, as was the limestone for the retaining walls - the builder was lavish in his use of timber, handmade terracotta tiles and copper in his interpretation of a European chalet blending into the mist and snow of the mountains.
The lounge room boasts French doors which compliment exposed walls, timber-lined cathedral ceiling/window in this cosy area. The gas log fire and comfortable lounge invite you to enjoy the entertainment available - TV, DVD, VCR and CD player plus Pianola and games for those times when you don't wish to venture outdoors.
Dining: Formal or informal - the choice is yours. Alabaster wall sconces create your atmosphere, while the French doors give access to the front courtyard and sandstone setting for alfresco dining.
Location
A five-minute drive to the Centre of Katoomba, restaurants, the Three Sisters lookout and the Scenic World. Close to all the popular bushwalks.
