Freycinet view is a fully furnished double storey three bedroom house with the living area upstairs offering sensational views. The house is positioned just 50 metres from the high-tide level of the secluded Nine Mile Beach near Swansea on the east coast of Tasmania, Australia.
The property has 80 metres of beach frontage with sensational views of Freycinet Peninsula, Schouten Island, Maria Island and Swansea. Freycinet view is set on a 5 acre block including 1 acre of fenced yard around the house. Bring fido with you, if you like.
The property is less than 10 minutes drive from Swansea. Or you could walk or pushbike there via the beach, but there is a small creek crossing near town which usually is easily crossed. A map of the general area is provided in the picture gallery.

Facilities
Freycinet view offers very comfortable accommodation for 4 adults, but can easily cater for 6 with three bedrooms, a bathroom, two toilets and laundry in the downstairs area.
The bedrooms comprise queen bed, double bed and twin bunks configuration. Quality linen and bath towels are provided. You will need to bring your own beach towels.
The upstairs living area includes a wood fire, tv, dvd and stereo with a selection of dvd's, cd's, books, games and magazines. The kitchen is well appointed with electric cook top and oven, a, wide range of electrical appliances including a microwave. Freycinet view is self-catering but there are two excellent supermarkets in Swansea. There is an ATM in the Corner Store supermarket and at the Bendigo Bank.
There is a gas barbecue and outdoor setting on the large deck and another gas barbecue in the downstairs covered outside entertainment area.
Local Attractions
Freycinet view is the perrfect place to just kick back, walk on your own secluded beach, collect some shells, read a book and have a glass of the local wine, you brought earlier in the day.
For some exercise and activities Freycinet National Park and Wineglass Bay are just a short drive from Swansea and are considered to have some of the finest bush walking tracks in the world. You could also try sea kayaking or abseiling. A bit further afield, but within a very easy day trip, is Tasmania's newest park, the Douglas-Apsley National Park. Situated in the middle of the East Coast, Douglas-Apsley National Park has spectacular river gorges, waterfalls, tranquil pools, large stands of dry eucalypt and pockets of rainforest. Another alternate day trip is a visit Maria Island, a short journey via the Maria Island Ferry that departs from Triabunna. You can do the Bishop and Clerk mountians walk or, for something less strenuous, visit the Fossil Cliffs and then the Painted Cliffs - both beautiful in their own way. Get up close to Cape Barron geese, wombats, Forester kangeroos, the Tasmanian native hen and, if you are lucky, the forty-spotted pardalote, one of the smallest and rarest birds in Australia. (You will need to take your food and drinks - there is nothing provided on the island.)
For something less strenuous there are many wineries, galleries, restaurants and bars in the area. Try the gourmet seafood pizza at the Bark Mill pub - sensational with a glass of the local riesling.
There are 4 local wineries with cellar door tastings, including the prestigious Freycinet Vineyard, producer of world class Pinot Noir and Reisling plus ''Radenti'' a fabulous multi medal sparkling wine, available cellar door only. The other nearby wineries are Coombend (Pinot Noir, Cab Sav, Late Harvest Sav Blanc), Springvale (Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Guwertz) and Craigie Knowe (Cabernet Blend and Pinot Noir); none of which should be missed. Coombend also provides tastings of it's own excellent estate grown and pressed olive oil and of a number of "sister" wine labels from north Tasmania. There is an excellent selection of Tasmanian wines at the Swansea Barrell bottle shop, located behind the Trellis Cafe.Bar.Lounge.
Kate's Berry Farm is one of Tassie's most popular land marks. Not only do they supply premium berry products; jams, sauces, wines etc, but they also serve some of the best coffee, cake and ice creams to be found anywhere! If for no other reason, visit Kate's for the vista across the berry farm and Great Oyster Bay to Freycinet Peninsular.
Other local produce includes walnuts, olives and the very best oysters, scallops and lobsters. Excellent gourmet cheeses and the local pickled walnuts can be bought at the Corner Store supermarket.
For nature lovers, visit the mutton bird rookery at Swansea and walk the Loon.tite.ter.maire.re.le.hoin.er track around Swansea's headland, passing through the shearwater breeding ground, plus see the little penguins at Swansea or Bicheno and keep your eye out for dolphins and the occasional whale in Great Oyster Bay, out in front of the house.
You can also wander our 4 acres of natural bush in search of possums, echidnas, wallabies, rabbits, parrots, blue tongue lizards, numerous species of native birds and the occasional quoll and tassie devil. Bring your torch and look for the Little Forest Bats (yes, that is a real name - they are only about 5 cms long) as they chase insects just after dusk up near the entrance to the drive-way. To sea-ward look for white-bellied sea eagles, short tailed shearwaters, black swans, pelicans, petrels and terns.
Don't forget your fishing rod for great shore or boat fishing. The flathead are big here!! There is an excellent range of fishing tackle and bait at the Morris General Store. Squid can often be caught off the Swansea jetty. Salmon and bream frequent the mouth of the nearby Swan River.
For a taste of history visit Maria Island, Spiky Bridge, the Bark Mill Museum, take the Swansea historic walk, including the Swansea Museum or take a longer drive to Richmond.
