Felicity - September 2005
Hobart is a beautiful port town. Salamanca markets, battery point, Sandy Bay and all the historic points of interest in between. If you have time, take the 3hr drive down the East coast to Freycinet - it\'s spectacular. Coles Bay, just outside the national park, is a good and inexpensive place to stay while you explore.

TRUDIE - October 2000
Hobart is the capital of Tasmania the most southern State in Australia. It is on the harbour and absolutely comes alive at the end of December every year because it is the destination for the yacht race Sydney to Hobart race.

A heritage rich town that is always a charm to visit. Try the local beer and seafood or head inland for a true bush experience

Hobart is a really easy city to navigate, it is very simply laid out and has lots of old sandstone buildings. Visit Salamanca Place and the markets they have on there.

We were there for New Years Eve the millenium and it was brilliant. A very pretty city with fantastic ocean views and great pubs. We watched the Sydney To Hobart yachts limp in around New Years Eve fireworks. What a mixture of emotions. Felt very safe and welcome in Hobart.

Laurel - June 2006
I was in Hobart for the Midwinter Festival, a celebration of Antarctic exploration and the cold climes of Tasmania. The thing that struck me most about Hobart was the quality of the light there - lacking the pollution of larger Australian cities, and located so far south, the sun shines with a brilliance unmatched in the rest of the country! Salamanca Market was alive with smiling faces, stalls selling food and crafts, and a crowd that swelled and dissipated around an ice sculpter, who carved a swan out of a block of ice throughout the day. As we left the market in the afternoon, I turned back for one last look at the ice swan, and the brilliant low sun shining through it like a scene from the Dark Crystal.

Stunning early colonial architecture, towering Mt Wellington and the Botanical Gardens cater for a wide range of interests. The waterfront cafes and Salamanca Place with its craft shops showcase much of Tasmania\'s artist\'s works. We enjoyed the smallness and ease of getting around in Hobart- no parking problems!!

If only all capital cities were this friendly. A beautiful spot. Truly is a large country town that has everything you could ask for. Great seafood and a lovely place to walk around and enjoy the history that it oozes in a tasteul manner.

A beautiful and historic little town famed for its local beer and market place ambience, Hobart is the jewel of Tasmania.

Jo - March 2006
What a beautiful, quiet city. Although cold at most times of the year. Hobart is well worth it. Salamanca market is a great start to the weekend & the sorth drive up to Mount Wellington will provide you with unbelievable views of the coast & the city. Chocolate lovers will adore the Cadbury factory tour.

A great place to unwind at after exploring the great wilderness of Tasmania. Stroll along the waterfront, visit Salamanca markets and pop down to Port Arthur. If it is winter pack warm clothes!

Fab spot. A world away from other Aussie capital cities. A must to visit!

Alicia - December 2003
The sun sets later in summer so it\'s great. The harbour front is most peaceful, with the seafood stores, and the Salamanca markets.

TRUDIE - July 1994
Wonderful waterfront city about as far south as you can get in Australia. Cold winds in the winter. Salamanca markets is a must to visit.
